Hockey Performance Centre
Hockey Performance Centre, HPC, is dedicated to be a leading edge hockey training centre. In the last decade HPC has actively participated in assisting hockey players of all ages and levels to become the best they can be. The centre combines world class training methodology and strategies, state of the art facilities and dedicated, highly educated trainers to execute this one of a kind hockey specific training program. Players from leagues such as the NHL, European Pro Leagues, Junior, American College, Canadian University, minor hockey and recreational hockey leagues join HPC to take their hockey skills to the next level.

Mission
To create a training environment for aspiring individual talent that matches their goals and dreams, to prepare and educate athletes for life’s journey by using sport passion as a vehicle for success and to teach how to live and perform without fear, guilt or obligation.
Vision
To transfer hockey dreams into reality.

Physical training can help to increase a player’s performance level but not all types of physical training will increase that performance level with the same efficiency. Players can train on stationary bikes to improve their VO2max, they can strive to achieve a 200lb bench press or a 200lb squat which are all great goals to have if cycling in the Tour de France or becoming a world class body builder is your goal. Though if your goal is to become a better hockey player, play for Canada in the Olympic Games or play in the NHL then this training will not allow you to achieve your greatest hockey potential.
Hockey players, as young as 6, come to work on the basic skills of skating and puck control at HPC on their journey to reaching their ultimate hockey goal. The hockey specific training done at HPC includes off-ice or gym training, skatemill training, on-ice training and mental preparation. These four areas compliment and build upon each other to help hockey players optimize their skills and on-ice performance. Gym training increases a player’s postural stability, balance, coordination, flexibility and core functioning all of which are essential in producing an efficient skating stride and excelling in the multi-tasking game of hockey. The HPC centre works extensively on a player’s skating efficiency, puck control, passing and shooting at full skating speeds through the use of the Skatemill. Position specific fitness testing, energy level assessments on and off the ice, mental preparedness and injury rehabilitation are all individualized and specific to hockey and the player’s personal goals.
Players will be able to see immediate improvements and advancements in their hockey skills when training at HPC. Improvements will be seen in overall athleticism of the player, a more efficient skating stride, higher speeds in puck handling, improvements in balance, coordination and stability on and off the ice and an increase in physical conditioning. Working from the foundation up HPC will help aspiring players build their technical hockey skills and learn to eliminate the barriers that are currently holding them back from performing at their highest level.
There are 4 sides to the holistic pyramid of training including physical, mental, spiritual and environmental. To perform at a player’s highest potential training must improve in all 4 sides. They must be physically ready to withstand the demands placed upon their bodies, they must be mentally ready for stress or anxiety that may occur in high pressure situations and be able to perform to their best capabilities during these times.

Spiritually the player must believe in themselves, have a passion for the sport and the energy drive excel. Lastly a player must be surrounded with a supportive and encouraging environment, which includes family, friends, teammates, coaches and trainers.
